Took the day off and dusted off the wetsuit for a super fun, super cold dip into Lake Ontario to support the Special Olympics. Water was 40, air temp was 35, with 100% precipitation. Over 2,500 people participated in the Polar Plunge, and truth be told, we had a few mimosas beforehand.
Interesting experience ~ the shore was chunky ice, and I got into about calf deep when I got caught by a bit of a current and went under. Creepy, but we had the Rochester PD, Monroe County Sheriff, and Coast Guard Scuba Team in the water to lend a hand. #profound respect for what they do, especially during a serious incident.
Will probably do a light swim tomorrow in more hospitable water temps.
Way to finish Week 1 strong and carry momentum into week 2 all!
I had a 95' run with a 4 X 1.5 mile at the very low end of my Z4 HR....it was all I could mentally manage myself through honestly....next week I hope to ratchet that up a tiny bit more:
