Paul Hough - Micro Management
Coach P - I'm currently in week 11 of the IM Advanced Plan. I'm at my lightest weight in over 10 years and everything is going very well. In week 12, I'll be going to Clermont for the QT2 Elite Age Group camp (11-14 Feb) and looking for any advice on what to change. My thought is to follow the plan Mon-Thu, but on Friday morning do an easy 1 hour swim and 30 min run so I'm ready for whatever they throw at me Saturday morning. Note: there is no published schedule for the camp. We will meet at 6:30am each morning and get our assigned work for the day at the time. They do know that I'll be in the middle of an IM build. Naturally, I'll be representing EN!

QT2 does a great job and my understanding is the camp can be quite hard...I would just go with the easy run, as the camp isn't about the first day, but how well you perform on the last day. And there's plenty of swimming, biking and running that will happen there.
We want you to be sharp there, and there's plenty of time to adding more training when you get back if required!
Have fun!!!!!

Sat. Swim first. I made 3900 LCM in the slower group. Then we biked 44 miles including 8 repeats of Sugarloaf. First one was 'easy', then 2 x 3 (one in aero bars entire climb, one standing entire climb, and one stomp intervals), then one more easy. 30 min transition run back at the hotel.
Sun. Swim 4100 LCM. Then easy ride out to Florida Boys Ranch Rd where we did 3 x the road length (about 3.3 miles) as one low cadence half IM pace, one higher cadence 90%, and one all out TT. Easy ride back for only 40 miles. Break until 4:30 pm then bike to field for game of dap to work on handling then bike to the most ridiculous grass hill in Clermont... about .3 mile up. 8 x up plus jog back down ... BRUTAL.
Two more days to go. We'd I am going to rest, then hit the long run Thu, but go 300 mins bike on Sat and 210 on Sun instead of cutting back for more running. Does that sound about right?
Then back that up with your long rides for sure. Note, you'll need EXCELLENT nutrition and very easy early pacing to make both rides successful.
I do not envy your competition.

Thanks Coach. Work has been crazy this past week, but fortunately they work with me. My weekend went down like this:
Friday - 2hrs 35 mins on the bike trainer w TSS = 127 followed by 4 mile brick run. Work the rest of the day.
Saturday - 6 mile easy run followed by 112 mile solo, outdoor ride in 5:35. I threw down with IF = .715 and TSS = 285. 4 hours in the office after that.
Sunday - 4 mile steady run plus 4600 yard swim in the morning. Lunch plus 30 min nap then 2hrs 31 mins on the bike trainer with TSS = 128. Getting ready to head to the office.
I would have liked to have done the big miles in the plan but I had pretty good quality for that 3 day block. I should be able to follow the plan fairly well the next two weeks although I have to travel this coming week. I had a great 10 week build and with this new body comp and aging up, I hope to score in Africa or at least have a good showing. It's going to come down to execution now.
Jealous of your miles,
