SCY to LCM

I have seen about 5 different methods to calculate this, so I am looking for some help.  Does anyone with some experience seem to have a good conversion.  My last 1000y TT in scy left me with a t-pace of 1:28.  I have not done a LCM TT yet , it is planned for next week in my plan.  Any help would be appreciated.  By the way the range of LCm times I have seen is 1:36-1:41.

PS-please don't say to do a 1000TT.  It is just to easy of an answer.  And I am a slave to the IM planned workouts.

  • In my old college swimming days we would take the yard time, multiply by 10% and add 1 second per lap to overcome the turns. i.e., a 88 second 100yards (1:28) would convert to 88 x 1.1 = 96.8 plus 2 seconds (2 lengths in a 50 meter pool) for an 98.8 (1:38.8).
  • Sorry- no, I don't. All I have access to is a 25 meter pool. I'd love to be back swimming in 50m pools again! Your damn lucky!

For workout purposes, it seems that range of 1:36-1:41 is close enough to just call it 1:40 to me. I usually round out the T-pace anyway 'cause my head doesn't do math in the pool that well! Round numbers are just easier to work with!
  • We always added 8 sec/100 to our scy times.
