Pavol Blaho - 2017 Macro

Hi Rich - many thanks for the swift turnaround on my season roadmap (Click here to view it now).

Couple questions I had: I purposely left some event rows blank prior to my 'A' races, as I was hoping you would recommend prep-events that would help my training and the 'A' races.  E.g. half marathon / Oly Tri prior my half iron 'A' races?  If so, how far form  my 'A' Half Iron I should stack them?

Second question: The full IM (Maryland) at the end of my season is more of a "wistful" thinking (80% wont' happen, 20% will happen - SAU issues), whereas the half iron month+ prior to that is a sure thing (and hence my 'A' race).  Should I therefore load up the Half Iron plan, focusing on Aug-27 Half Iron event, and then just ramp up the volume for Maryland if I get away w/ extra volume (time / family-wise).  The idea there is slowly chipping away at 10 IM's for the Legacy Program.  2 behind me, many more go come...

Thanks again!

Ok, got it. You can do pretty much any events you want before about wk14 of the HIM plan. After that I'd rather you focus on the race and not race anything else. Half marathons and Olympics are all good so just do whatever sounds fun and is convenient for you.

On 7/17 load up the EN*Half plan to end on 8/26. If you then decide to race IMMD we'll figure that out when we get there.

    Good luck!
  • Hello Coach Rich,

I took the liberty of scheduling a call w/ you for later today - if that slot doesn't work, happy to reschedule. In brief, the topic is a 200 mile bike ride w/ total climb of 12,343 feet I have signed up for on June 17 in Europe.  One of those epic moments in life we live for...
Few questions I was hoping to run by you / our bike guru on a brief call. Questions like: This is a week after my Half (June 11th - Eagleman), how do I play the recovery week? How do I treat this long day nutrition-wise?  There will be some breaks scheduled, even hot lunch served, so curious how much should I go off our IM nutrition / pacing guide. Silly things like: do I put on compression tights during the 45 mins breaks / recoveries we take to refresh?

Looking forward to us connecting.  Many thanks in advance, Pavol.
  • Great chat today! Good luck on the ride!
