Naomi Gilker: Micro Thread

Dear Coach P,

Was wondering if you could please provide some advice on how to adjust my training plan?

I'm currently doing the Beginner Jan OS. As you know, Saturday is trainer ride with brick run and Sunday is long run. I'm struggling to figure out how I can also include my Tri Club's Sunday club ride. We'll typically head to the Dublin Mountains or the area around Dublin on Sundays. Typically for at least 2.5hours but usually for at least 3 hours. There is often a good amount of climbing and the lads can go at a decent speed. I don't want to give up these group rides because, well, I like my tri-peeps :smile:

Right now, I only really take Mondays off from training because we have a club swim at 6am on Fridays (which I don't want to miss), so would you suggest I move the Sunday run to Friday? I'm training that day anyway.

I appreciate your advice.

  • @Naomi Gilker - You definitely don't want to give up that ride..it first perfectly. So, here's what I suggest:

    • Friday - Swim Only.
    • Saturday - Sunday long run.
    • Sunday - Saturday ride.
    • Monday - OFF
    If you want more rest between the two days of work, you could: 
    • Friday - Swim, then Sunday long run.
    • Saturday - Brick run only from Saturday's WKO.
    • Sunday - Saturday ride.
    • Monday - OFF
