Week 13 - Keep Moving Forward

Does anyone have any races coming up? This week Coach Rich talks about how to insert a race in your Ironman training.  This is SO early in the season it's hard to find races but depending on where you live there might be something! Anyone traveling?? What do you have goin on??

Take a listen and get some ideas! Coaches like to have you break up your race season into A, B, C races and this is traditionally the last weekend you can have a 70.3 leading up to your full.

This week is a Bike Focus Week. Coaches have strategically put in some volume bumps within the plan to prepare you for your race! This will be a chance for your to push your boundaries in cycling. So what do you have on your plan for cycling this week? Going anywhere beautiful and exciting to enjoy the time outside?

A couple more notes: Make sure you are tweaking your nutrition plan as needed!! And write these things down...what works, what doesn’t??

  • Hey everyone, hope the training is going well.  Did anyone else notice the short ride (2hr) on Saturday for Week 13?  That is somewhat confusing considering this is a bike focus week.  I did notice the Sun ABP ride is no longer optional, but this week is still less hours than last week if you did the optional Sun ride. I have reached out to Coach Patrick for clarification.

    I think that ride is supposed to be at least 5 hours on Saturday (thats what it was before they did the update).

    Training is going well for me...hopefully that will continue! My swims are getting easier, and I think my form is staying better throughout the swim.  I have to take a little more time for rest then is indicated in the workouts.  My running is also feeling better and my times have improved at the same relative heart rate.  I still have to work on staying in the aero position on the bike as that becomes cumbersome.  I find it much easier to stay aero on the road compared to on the trainer (I work harder on the trainer).  I am also excited to see my CTL in Training Peaks go over 100 this week! I know the number is not magical, but this is exciting for me because I just started tracking my progress in November of last year. Its awesome to see a metric of how training is affecting fitness level.  Its nice to see steady improvement.
