Trainer Road and Distance Tracking

Hello, EN!

I'm new to Trainer Road and have a question. I understand that it does not automatically capture your distance and speed on the display, but I read that if you download the .tcx file and upload that data is there. I tried that today and it still was not showing speed/distance. I'm mainly more interested in tracking the overall distance more than speed. Is there something I need to tweek in the settings?
Thanks!!

  • Sabra, are you using a speed sensor that's connected to TR? I'm pretty sure you need a speed sensor to get distance/speed data.  I'm using the Garmin ANT+ speed sensor.
  • @Derrek Sanks - So upon further research, I need to purchase an ANT+ adapter and a lightning 30-pin adapter so that it will pair to TR.  Ugh this sport drives me crazy sometimes with all the add-ons required.  But this totally helped. Thank you so much!
  • I think it depends on your setup. I have a dumb trainer (KK Road Machine) and a power meter. I also have a speed sensor and it doesn't keep track of the distance I cover. I think this is because the relationship between power and speed on the trainer is not the same as the relationship between power and speed when I ride "in the wild". The distance obtained by integrating the speed would have little meaning. Perhaps it will work if you have a smart trainer.

Have you tried contacting support at TrainerRoad? There is also a thread on the SlowTwitch forum that you could search.
