Cervelo P-5 Six Price and Electronic Shifting Question
My LBS, got 2 Cervelo P-5 Six frames in, a 54 cm and a 56cm from back stock at Cervelo (the Black/Red/White version). They are selling each for $2,600, all the magura breaks, cockpit, etc. all NIB.
Overall I think that is a great price so I am likely to pull the trigger on the 54cm this weekend, but my open question is if anyone has used e-tap or Di2 on their older model P-5 Six and how hard was it to set up, use, etc. With the Magura breaks it is not a simple install on the base bar I don't think...
Thoughts on Price and Specs, let me know.
Thanks.
Brian

there is a hack that Withrow did an EN blog on that details how to do the old Di2 putting shift buttons on the . I know Dino did it with the newer one that has a chipset in the shifter. If you google for images of Di2 + Magura + P6, i am sure you will come up with pics where people have added it.
I haven't used the e-tap, but i think the blips are probably better/ easier to mount for this application.
can't go wrong with the frame for that price!
As for the frame, I remember reading about the base bar on Slowtwitch years back, i will ask them about it to make sure it is not that bar. Thanks again...
But as Dinhofer said, do it right and go with electronic shifting and you'll have a sick bike for the next 5+ years. The e-tap is probably the easiest way to get it all setup, but not sure about the economics. What a fun project! Keep us updated...
Thanks guys... I am going to go get a new/updated fit tomorrow pending I can get rid of this flu! I will keep you posted on the decision. BTW: If anyone is in the market for the 56cm let me know and I can pick it up for you at the same cost, maybe better who knows....
PS: It is kind of a dream bike for me, so I think I will pull the trigger it for sure. More than I need, but hell, as long as the wife ok's it....

Guys, finally got the P5 built, will post up some pics when I get the chance, not all geared up yet, but took it for a simple ride on Sunday am, and it rides like a dream, but hard to stay aero since I have been training on a road bike for some time, will have to work back into it...fun fun
Get a good fit.. aero is the most comfy posiiton on that bike!
Like a kid in a week-long visit to a candy store....ha
I ended up with the e-tap, I was able to get a really good deal through trisports.com on the aero kit.
Did a 30 mile ride yesterday early am (pre-mother's day breakfast for the wife, and including a 20 min stop to help another cyclist fix their bike) and it felt good. Front already needs to be adjusted though, as it is not self adjusting for about 5 gears on the big ring and has chain rub. Also, need to work on the fit some more with my LBS fitter to get more comfortable.
I quickly realized that I want to change out the blips on the extensions for the bar end clicks, not sure why, I think is may have to do with muscle memory from having a traditional set up, as I found myself having to adjust my hands to change gears with the blips while my thumbs were always in the area that the clicks would be...need some more rides to figure that out, just initial thoughts.
I was not sold on electronic shifting until now, but all I can say is that it is clearly the best advancement that a normal rider like me can actually feel a benefit from, even if it is only mental.
