Rev 3 Quassy
I signed up for this race because I was moving to NYC from DC and thought it would be close. I was tired of doing the Kinetic Half and didn't really like the Eagleman course. I didn't realize that it was going to be such a challenging course until people (who'd done it last year) kept telling me that it was hard. Well folks, they weren't kidding. My hats are off to everybody who finished this race because this was the toughest half I have ever completed. Granted, my experience is Eagleman, Kinetic Half, Vineman and Diamondman, which are not challenging courses, but wow, this was a doozy of a bike course and a complete mind f**k on the run. The bike is a constant rolling hills of varying grades that never lets up; the run, is well, hell. I would describe it as taking all the big hills at Placid and putting them all together for 13.1 miles.
After saying all that, it is a well-organized race and good race support. The lake is nice to swim in, easy sighting, and the course is very scenic. The roads were good, although I saw lots of flats. You get good swag, a race shirt and a finisher's shirt, a shiny medal and a visor. The amsuement park is small and nothing on the scale of Disneyland, more like carnival-style. Post-race food was good and the coverage of the race was good.
I don't know if I would do this race again in the near future. I'm sure I'll get race amnesia and sign up again at some point, but for now, my screaming calves are a nice reminder of what I did on Sunday.

Thanks for the review and congrats on your race!
I'm kinda enjoying sitting on the sidelines and watching Rev3 do their thing. I don't know anything about them, about the races, the organizers, but they seem to be successful and to be building an alternative to WTC...which, per SOP, will likely drop a 70.3 race in the backyard on the same day to squash the brand or just buy them out...
Anyway, interesting to watch.
