David - I might be a late entry depending on how fast I recover from IMSA this weekend. It so happens that I'll be at a conference in Destin on 9-10 May and it would be easy to drive over on 11 May, stay with my parents in Panama City and do the race that Saturday.
It will probably just be the two of you. I am in a work surge and will probably have to bail on my conference next week. Plus, I am having an epiphany that I should do Augusta 70.3 on Sep 24 for several reasons.
@David - My boss bailed on the conference instead and I have to go give her presentation. I'll be swimming at Frank Brown next Thursday morning (long course). Walk up registration will be available, so I am completely on the fence. I won't decide until then - if I do, I'll be in EN kit and I don't look as good as Patricia. Meanwhile, I've booked a room for Augusta although I haven't registered yet. I'm beginning to like this spur of the moment stuff!
Hey it's great training. Especially if you're doing an IM at the end of the year. I'm too fat for an EN kit, plus I wouldn't want to embarrass the club. My Bib is 1404 however and I'm staying at the Edgwater Golf villas. Cell is 334-797-2422. If you decide to come down give a shout. I'll turn in early Fri night but maybe a beer after.
I got an invite to a national Tri in Omaha for Olympic. Is that legitimate?
No more IMs for me this year...two last month was enough! The weather and how I feel will be a deciding factor. Are you bringing a wetsuit...temperature is looking very marginal. I may pack a pair of Roka Sim shorts just in case.
You only have to rank in the top 25-33% of your AG (depending on the race) to get an invite, so yeah, it is legitimate. AG Olympic distance nats is very competitive. It's worth going if you want that experience, but I personally would not waste a vacation day on Omaha, NE unless I really, really, really wanted to try and qualify for the following year's ITU Worlds. E.g., 2018 Worlds is at the Gold Coast, Australia...not on my bucket lets. But USAT Nats for 2018 is in Cleveland (ugh), but 2019 Worlds is in Lausanne, Switzerland...that is worth thinking about!
Yeah I'm not going, but it was nice to grab an invite. Beats being DFL. On the other hand if I were lucky enough to score a spot in Chattanooga I think I'd have to take it. I think wetsuits are likely at GCoast. They've change the course to an out and back on the bike. Last year you had to make two turns down a side road and back. The turns kind of slowed things down.
I drove to Destin today and have everything with me if I decide to race. I had a strong weekend, probably more than a HIM plan calls for, but I felt good.
Sat - 3500 yards hard swim. About 2hr break then 3 hour hammerfest on the trainer plus 4 mile brick run.
Sun - 12 mile run including 3 x 5 min uphill plus 10 mins Z3
Mon - 3200 yards swim, 90 mins on the drainer w 3 x 12 mins with first 8 at .75 and last 4 at .85, then 2.5 mi run.
The conference will push me into a taper since I can't get too much in and have a mandatory dinner tomorrow night. I'm watching the weather closely, and although the storms predicted earlier for Friday seem to have fizzled they are saying Saturday will be drier. I'm going to run 3 miles here Thursday morning, work until check out, then drive to Frank Brown Park for a swim. I can eat lunch after that and it should be about 2pm - time for the expo and my final decision. Drum roll please.....

@Patricia Rosen note my number above.
