qs on 10k TT of outseason and moving it to a few weeks later

Hi Coaches! I am finishing up the outseason plan next week. Which I LOVED, btw! I feel like I'm entering my last 14 weeks of training in a really good space! I am doing a 10 K on April 30. It's a local one that I love and didn't want to miss it.  Should I do the scheduled 90 min run of the outseason as is, but not crank it? Or crank it? Or substitute it for something else? I don't feel like I'll compromise fitness if I do another 9-13 mile run next week. The 30th will be my first Sunday of my 12 week 70.3 training. Thank you! Kristi

  • @KRISTI PARADIS - thanks for the feedback!!! Please remember to update your Heads/Tails data for us when it's all done (here).

I thnk you'll be fine doing both? By my math, your OS long run is on 4/10, but your 10k race is on 4/30....plenty of time...we'll need to help you adjust that training week when we get there, but this is good.

Ps - don't forget we want you to post to the same micro thread all season. You can find yours under "My Threads" in the right sidebar (or bookmark it)....this way we have a rolling record of all our decisions for you.

  • Howdy Coaches.  I wanted to touch base with you about the week of 4/24.  That will my first week of the 12 week 70.3 intermediate plan. That Sunday is the 10 k that I'm doing.  I would like to crank it to see what I can do . ;) My 70.3 is June 18 so I'm entering the plan at week 3.  Thank you for your input.  cheers.  Kristi
  • Kristi, that's fine. You could use it as a "new run test" to see if you can get new run zones.

I would recommend that you do the following changes:
    • Normal plan through Thursday.
    • Friday is swim only.
    • Saturday is bike about 90' to 120' very easy...just for time, chit chat...enjoy.
    • Sunday go get that race!!!
Then it's Monday Swim only or Off if you need it!
