@Paul Hough I was referring to this year when I raced in PR for the 2017 IM Club Champtionships....no March races planned for 2018.
When I left WI it was 25 and snowing...arrived later that day in San Juan to 90 and humid. Despite no heat or humidity acclimatization had a good race.
I received Brenda's e-mail that the FL 70.3 is getting close. I will start the final 8 weeks of the HIM plan on 12 Feb so I have to make the most of the remaining 2.5 weeks of out season work.
I was planning same @Paul Hough ... AccuWeather website shows below long-range forecast. Looks like I'll be planning to add a space heater to my pain cave wko's ... could still have snow here in upstate NY!
@Rory Gumina - in the weather industry those long range forecast models are known as "crap apps". Beyond historical averages they don't have a clue what the weather will be on 8 April. I wouldn't give accuweather's prediction until we are within 10 days of the race. That said, be ready for a hot day. If we are lucky some kind of front will come through the day before and we'll have dry cool weather. But they lucked out last year so I expect a clam bake.
@Mark Hickman - I hear you, but at least we'll both end up here.
All, is there any interest in firing up a weekly training thread for Florida 70.3 athletes. Seeing others get after it not only provides some motivation, but helps us to get to know each other a little bit before race day. I'd be happy to start the thread each week...as a matter of fact...going to start a thread now and see what happens.
@Mark Hickman we are trying to get that chatter going in the group me for your group. You can find that link under the group me page under the community drop down menu on the dashboard.
@Brenda Ross is group me what all the kids are doing now?:o) j/k For some reason I like the email updates vice the constant pings of the group me. I may check in there as well every now and then.
BSR is sending a large contingent. I have a lot of friends coming from the Midwest. Ironman is also trying to field several employee relay teams. My son will be running for one of them. Who is our comp in Div 1?
@Scott Renick, I will be treating it as an 'A' race. In fact, I rode the course virtually on my trainer just yesterday. I'll probably ride it once a month between now and April.
@Paul Hough Just noticed this...what program did you use to ride the course virtually?
@Mark Hickman - I use Rouvy (Cyclops Virtual Training). There are at least 3 uploads of the FL70.3 course but none with video; so you only get the avatar moving on the map and feel the elevation.
@Robert Sabo I've only been there once and don't recall for certain. There's a separate aquatic center on the lake eva park campus that might. Also the Hyatt inside Orlando airport has day use rooms, but not sure how much $.
