  • Hi all. I live in Lake Forest, IL and I have never done Racine even though it is practially in my back yard. I plan to use it as a warm up for IMWI.  I would love to hear you guys' plans.
  • I am doing Racine in the middle of my season, June 17 highcliff half triathlon in wisonsin 1st then June 24 north woods Olympic triathlon then Racine. I have never raced Racine but have multiple friends who have and told me that the last 15 miles of the bike is very rough and bumpy to make sure I hold onto my nutrition going out and coming back in because you cross the same stretch out and back! So maybe something to hold your bottles a little better or something gaurilla cages something idk :-)
  • I think I'll jump into Racine as well.   It will be my third time.  Both previous times I have said I would never do it again.   The bike is bad.  The last 15 miles are horrendous but frankly the whole course is pretty rough.

I personally love the cold Lake Michigan swim, but last year it was cancelled due to lightning.  The run has a couple good climbs up from the lake and can be pretty rough if the heat/humidity is high.

  • Hi all -- I live in Glenview IL, just down the road from Jon. I've done Racine a bunch of times, even before Ironman purchased it. I'll be doing the Wisconsin 70.3 on June 11 and IM Moo on 9/10. I'm new to EN and getting the hang of how the forums work, etc.  Agree that the bike can be bouncy and really rattle things; have to pay attention to where the holes are. Weather can be iffy: I've raced it when it was 95 degrees and horribly humid and when it was 75 degrees with water temps in the 60s. Really helps to practice swimming in LM. Would love to train with anyone on a Saturday -- if you don't mind being seen with an old timer (I'm 56).

Hi EN peeps... I'm from the Upper peninsula of Michigan (Wayyyy up north!!) I'm not on the list but I'm signed up to race Racine 70.3, Maine 70.3 , and I'm considering a full IM later in the season.
I've never raced Racine before and to be honest the bike course has got me a little nervous.  Hoping all of the bad spots on the roads are marked well..
How's everyone's training going?  Let's get pumped up, support each other and kick some serious butt in Racine....
I'm considering an half ironman aqua bike June 17th at Toughman Wisconsin..   What are your thoughts? Good idea or bad idea?  Wondering if this will help me  determine how hard to push on the swim and bike in Racine?
