Dirk needs some help
Rich,
Not sure how this all works. I'm pretty bad at using these threads apparently. But here we go in no particular order;
- I modified my season schedule by not doing the spring marathon per your video on the topic of spring marathons. however I never modified my EN training plan which incorporated the Marathon so I have been following Shawn Westhoven's plan as we are both doing IM Tremblant and train together on a daily basis and have just finished week 10 of Get Faster advanced. I figure it is probably good to formally adjust my EN season training plan so you know what I am doing and we are on the same page. How do I do this?
- Recently struggling with some hips/glute tightness which is starting to impact my training, mainly HIT running. I completed a local HM 10 days ago which went ok, but not spectacular. Hoping to correct in the next week or two with massage therapy and Chiro. I am wondering if there is not an underlying component of overtraining. I have a meeting with my PT next wed to discuss this. He wants to generate a stretching/rolling plan and I told him I would share my training schedule so he could understand exactly what I am trying to accomplish. This is also why I would like to update my season training plan with you.
- I won't go into lots of detail now regarding test results but the concern is I am just treading water, not getting faster and perhaps losing ground on the physical side with my hip and glute issues..? Frankly I've lost perspective, I'm not sure if I'm overtraining, or undertraining? I do travel often so following the EN plan involves some mixing and matching, however I am good about hitting all the high priority and med priority workouts (up until last week when I could not muster a 40min Z2/Z3 run due to tightness in my upper glutes.)
Bottom line is I think I will be able to sort of the physical issues within two weeks and be in a good place to start a solid build. I might just need a little more rest as I go along than I have been getting to keep everything on track... I would also like to keep on the same training schedule as Shawn if at all possible as having a training partner really pushes us both. I am not sure what is next on his training plan but our racing schedule is identical up through IM Tremblant.
Thanks for helping me out!
