FOS ~ Week 14 ~ Celebration!

Well, the time has come for our group to move on. To that, I say thank you for jumping in when you can, providing training updates, team mojo and all around good cheer. Join me as Kool and the Gang usher into our final week togethe ~ whether on the same plan, or in spirt! {https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3GwjfUFyY6M}

We've got swimming on deck, a continuation of those super fun single leg drills, spin ups, longer main sets, leading into testing on Thursday, (hopefully) an outside ride on Saturday, and perhaps a 10K or 1/2 marathon on Sunday.

If you are racing, please let us know so that we can give you the proper EN sendoff to the start line.

Although our group was small, I appreciate the opportunity (thank you @Brenda Ross ) to head up the bike thread.

My schedule is shaping up to be super crazy, and I am not sure where this season will lead, but I will share with you that given the few races I've had, the OS works!

Stay in touch, and see you on the forums!

Cheers,
Beth

  • @Elizabeth Hornak - thanks for the great kickoff to week 14!

Back to back biking for me Sat and Sun..... :s

Sunday several of us did the EN ABP ride on Zwift: https://www.strava.com/activities/975259103

I ran both days but fatigued.

    Slogged through a 26 X 100 (50/50) swim this morning: https://www.strava.com/activities/976659578/overview

Felt better after the swim than before.

    Happy week 14!

  • @Shaughn Simmons  Welcome! :)

I did a 15mile trail relay yesterday with my daughter, and one of her XC chums. It reminded me a bit of your race day. We slogged through the trails at Mendon Ponds Park - wet, cold, rainy, hail (maybe), and snow (I think so!). I was off today and want to ride tomorrow if I can get my bike in time! New shifters are on! Woo hoo! If I can't get out and ride, I will head to the pool. I am pretty sore from yesterday.

One of these days, I am going to have to get myself on Zwift so I can play with the cool kids!  Nice ride around London - one of my favorite cities.

How do you strava-fy for the swim? Plugged into your Garmin?

Happy first day of week 14!

    ~Beth

  • @Elizabeth Hornak - my plan still says 36 miles run target, but I am assuming I need to ignore that since it's rest/test week? Also, I did ask in the micro today too, but I wonder if I can just do my own run test since it's Mother's Day and time will be precious  :)
  • @Daria Matthews I agree with your assumption. Gonna be hard to rest too much on a rest week!
@Elizabeth Hornak Damn!  The leg strength it takes and fitness driven by a 15 mile trail run is quite exceptional!  Congratulations!  Rest!

5 X 3' interval run for me this morning inside of 7 miles.....was tough!

    Happy Tuesday all!

  • @Elizabeth Hornak- and you were limping around on a bum knee in Week 1! Comeback kid of the FOS ;-) I have been experimenting on Zwift. Showed up for a race and got badly skooled. Probably need to stick with the ABP crew from EN.
  • @Daria Matthews - yes, time is precious! Always do what will work for you and your family. <3
@Shaughn Simmons Thank you - we are still cleaning up the mud!
@John Culberson knees are still a work in progress. :) I found the Mobility WOD site with Kelly Starrett www.mobilitywod.com, and the exercises are becoming a game changer for me.

I did my bike test yesterday as today I was beyond slammed for time.
    https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/1725644137  - warm up
http://https//connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/1726344907 - test - if anyone is willing to help me unpack these results, (super happy just to see mph!) I would appreciate it.

Today I ran an easy 2 miles with my youngest daughter. YAY! I had a super intense massage yesterday to work out my cranky VMO, which is contributing to my knee issues.

Hope everyone is enjoying the week!
  • @Elizabeth Hornak - 10 miles covered in 36:03 with Avg HR of 152.  BOOM!

Now 2-3 months ago on that same course can you compare time and Avg HR?  If you time has improved at and equal or lower HR you are more fit!

You now use that avg HR of 152 to derive your HR zones using the EN calculator.  If you need help with that,  holler!

    Nice work!

@John Culberson - Hope to see you sometime on the Sunday EN ABP Zwift ride!

Run Part 1 complete this morning feeling about 80% and better than yesterday.  We'll see if there is life for part 2 later .....

Cool early morning and got to see the sunrise.....love that.

    KMF all!

  • @Shaughn Simmons
Yes, will need an assist in updating the HR.

I ran three miles this morning. https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/1730560827 I am having trouble getting my cadence up. If there any suggestions, I would appreciate it.

I don't think I will have time to ride - today is my eldest daughter's junior prom. So proud that is she is flying solo. I will post a picture. :)

    Cheers!
