Kellie Moran-Jones Micro Thread

Done with Muncie and had an amazing race.  I need to sit down and digest the details then I might have some questions about training up to Worlds and racing Worlds.

Loading up the 20 week Advanced Half plan drops me right into a test week.  I am not going to do all the testing and will modify the workouts and get going on Sat. and Sunday based on how I feel.  Sound good?

  • @Kellie Moran-Jones -   Congratulations! I can't wait to hear the details. Training data is nice, but there's nothing like raise the data to tell us what you're for potential is! Sounds like there might be some good stuff there to really help you refine your plan for worlds.

I agree with your protocol this week, there is no need to test. Instead use this week as an opportunity to re-integrate and get back to "normal"  training on the weekend.

This first weekend, just keep the workouts easy and do them for time versus intensity. Your body still needs a gentle nudge in the right direction not a kick in the pants!
  • Here's your updated Season Plan, as promised. This is where you'll return to post all your "coach" questions as responses; I'll see them and reply. This first post is my best outline of how to proceed with your races, but you can ask any / all questions you want. So post away, know that I reply here usually M/W/F each week.

    Your Notes

Had a great 2017 season ending at Worlds 70.3 Chattanooga with a time of 5:30.06 and 27th in the women's for 45-49 age group and ranked 39th overall AWA in that age group. I decided to take that fitness into the winter and try to qualify for Boston. Ran the Charleston Marathon in a 3:56:24.50 with is a BQ time for me. My training went great for that but the race killed me! Had severe knee problems and had to have an MRI. I took off about 2 months and gained 20lbs before starting training again. I had to put something on my calendar to get my butt moving so decided on Ohio 70. 3 on July 29th. I'm now 12 weeks in the 20 week run focused plan and everything is going ok but need to get back down in weight. Not sure if I like this plan as much as I liked the 2017 Advanced Half Ironman plan but running is my weakness so giving it go. On week 12 of the 20 week Half Ironman Run Focus Plan

    Coach Notes

I am glad you took the time off, but even though you are on the comeback trail we can't go nuts with your run efforts. Good, consistent running at TRP pace is perfect. Long run about 10 miles is all you need (with marathon in your body this year). It's really going to be your bike pacing and nutritional execution that makes your race a good one at Ohio 70.3!

    Let's get to work!
