Is a shoe mounted cadence sensor as accurate as crank mounted?

I just received the Wahoo speed/cadence sensor set to install on my new Cervelo P2. However, there is not enough room for the cadence sensor on the inside of the non-drive crank arm for installation. I've currently attached it to my left shoe, which shouldn't be a problem, as long as the sensor is accurate.

  • i would assume if it mounted in a way to be read 1x per revolution, you should be good.
  • I have the same issue with my P5.  I've tried a couple different sensors and none of them are thin enough on the crank so I have simply attached it to my shoe.  Seems to work fine. Doesn't drop data.  I've never done an official test to confirm accuracy, but it seems good enough for me.
  • Thanks Scott and Tom. That's what I needed to hear. Fit's snug on the front velcro strap of my shoe, so it shouldn't be an issue. I'll see how it goes.
