Eric Burney Official Coach Thread

Here's your updated Season Plan, as promised. This is where you'll return to post all your "coach" questions as responses; I'll see them and reply. This first post is my best outline of how to proceed with your races, but you can ask any / all questions you want. So post away, know that I reply here usually M/W/F each week.

Coach Notes

Even with your half iron coming up in a few weeks, I think your best bet is to load the longer training plan to prepare for Arizona. If you haven't already, you should check out our Arizona resource page online here -- which has lots of information about the race and how to pace it. Good stuff to learn from there.

Once you are through the race it is a quick recovery turnaround into your next season. I scheduled only two weeks and you may want to take them completely off. The goal will be to have you ready to hit the Outseason, our most important training plan, and where you make the most gains before you target the 70.3's you have lined up.

Let's get to work!

  • CP,

I/We missed the template/trial testing plan window last week....should I skip this ? or insert my most recent numbers for the SBR? and/or get into the IM AZ Training starting tomorrow 8/28 ?

    EB
  • @Eric Burney - insert the most recent and onwards. Week 9 is calling you! :)

besides you'll have the chance to test again soon enough!

I am just starting to feel better after "that flu"... I looked at the season plan you did for me (dated Dec 25th!)... It is missing two 70.3 races. Bayshore on March is off the table due to my delayed training  start. KThe plan does not address the trading for the Honu 70.3 in late May. Can you please review and revise my SP?

    Thank you

    Eric Burney

  • @eric burney - Thanks for the heads up on the early races...not sure how I missed them! I added them back into your plan in the right place (well, not Bayshore) and we can go from there. My apologies!
