Robert Goekler Official Coach Thread

Here's your personal Coach Thread, as promised. This is where you'll return to post all your "coach" questions as responses; I'll see them and reply. This first post is here to guide you through your first year on EN, so you can always come back here.

As you'll see in this forum, I handle all manner of edits and changes.  So post away, know that I reply here usually M/W/F each week.

Your WHY and Goals

Coming soon...see homework below!

Your Notes

I am 47, I have not ran a Triathlon, a few relays and Duathalons I am an avid runner with several races every year. Biking is as I feel usually deciding the night before how far I will go. Longest distance was 33 miles with a 2 mile run after. Swimming is new, While I can swim I have zero open water experience and limited laps. I actually started laps swimming yesterday. Six laps and a few drills for comfort in the water, after an 8 mile run. I have listed as many races as you allowed however it should note that I plan on as many as I can get to throughout the year.

Coach Notes

Great to have you on the Team! You are just getting started, so I think that you should load up our Short Course plan to get on track for your race and have fun with the remainder of your year. Consistency -- a basic week -- is our top goal for you.

Beyond that, your 2018 is all about the whole build across the year to the Ironman...that kicks off with a short OutSeason® (Winter) training plan, and then into the Balanced Marathon plan to get you the long runs into your Marathon.

All of this is outlined ^above^, and it could look a bit overwhelming right now...but you have the framework that you need. As you add / do new races, you can reach out to me here and I can help you out!

I look forward to talking with you soon!  https://calendly.com/pmccrann/weektwo
