The best 11 speed chain for shimano drivetrain?

I used to buy the unicorn tears treated optimized chains, then Ceramic Speed bought them , they now use the KMC chain.... Last year I purchased a fancy red/black EN colored KMC chain and didnt think it was as good as my Dura Ace chains I have had in the past...

My plan was to purchase a new DuraAce chain , clean it , and wax it myself... However I have learned Shimano discontinued the DuraAce Chain... They appear to have a couple versions of the 11sp chain that works across all their platforms road/MTB...

Can anyone recommend the best chain for the Shimano 11 speed drivetrain?
Best quick links for said chain?
Speed and smooth shifting are the priority.
It will be cleaned, treated with parrafin wax, and maintained with squirt.

  • @tim cronk I ordered a DuraAce chain 11s partially unaware they that they shifted around how they market it now. Hopefully it doesn't suck.
If I can find someone to clean and treat mine I will do just as you are planning.
    I will be following^^
  • @tim cronk I use the 11s Dura Ace. I also ended up with a KMF from CeramicSpeed  last year and it didn't' shift well on my Di2.  CeramicSpeed has brought back the DuraAce. If you would like a different flavor of unicorn tears, I know some of the prose are riding Ice Friction: http://www.icefriction.com/.  I haven't tried it yet.

I haven't heard anything about the 11s being discontinued - had heard that about the 10s.

I also wax chains - but I haven't raced on a chain that I waxed. I use them for training because they seem to pickup less grime. I typically buy the CeramicSpeed, use its optimized miles racing then train on it. When it gets grimy, I wax and use it until it stretches.
  • Ok I see the DuraAce 11spd still exists.... I got confused when it said XTR... I'm gonna go that route, strip it and wax it myself... Will used the wipperman quick connect link.
  • I think the choice on ST at the moment is a Wipperman 11 from Culprit bikes.
  • I've been using Wipperman for a while. Great chain and really great master link! I've also been waxing (Molten Speed wax) for about 2 years, also awesome stuff!
  • @Dave Tallo I think you meant premier bikes?   Anyway this thread has me convinced to try the pretreated Wippeman from them.

  • I have a wipperman chain.  Super easy to put on and take off, but I find it doesn't shift quite as smoothly as the ultegra chain on my setup (ultra Di2).  I also recently  got the pretreated wipperman chain from premier bikes but I haven't put it on yet.
  • @tim cronk- yep, that's the one.  And that was the thread from st that I had in mind.
