Polar bottles

I've been using Polar insulated bottles since I started this whole bike riding thing back in 2004. I think they were pretty much the only game in town back then and I've stuck with them. In fact, I think I still have some of my original bottles from way back when.

Any way, I've also acquired some other Polar hand-me-overs of people that have switch to Camelbak bottles and others.

Yes, I realize this conversation can take a serious demented twist, but let's keep it clean, so here we go...

After an amount of time and heavy usage, the little black "nipple" of the lid doesn't stay up any more when using. So I've been trying to use my teeth to pull it up while it's at my mouth, and use my lips to keep it up while drinking from it. However, it seldom works as well as it sounds.

Any suggestions on how I could alter the lid to prevent it from sliding back down and stopping water/hydration flow?

Please don't suggest replacing the bottles with Camelbak. I'm trying to save money (obviously, since I've held onto these bottles for so long!).

I've thought about filing ("scoring") either the black part and/or the inside of the section it drops into, in order to make it more difficult to slide down.

Anything else you can think of?
