Mark's Coaching Thread

So after we talked yesterday I took a closer look at the calendar if I were to do the HITS race in December.  The four preceeding weekends I'm away (Napa, Vegas, Austin) and then its Thanksgiving.  My work schedule is not much lighter.  So...  I am reluctantly going to bail on that.  Would either of the early April 70.3's (Galveston or Oceanside) be too close to IM Santa Rosa to be of value at the risk of injury or fatigue?

  • @mark thoma -  as difficult as that decision may be, I agree with you it's not the right call. I personally would recommend doing Oceanside before the race. The compete level is very high there and it's a challenging course, pretty close to the Iron Man feeling you'll get on race weekend.

That falls on the weekend of your first big set of race rehearsals, so we will likely move those will be earlier and have you do a very short taper for Oceanside. 100% doable, just know that race does sell out quickly!
  • Great!  I updated my race schedule to add Oceanside (charity entries are still available).  Let me know how I should change my training plans going forward.   thanks!!!
  • @mark Thoma - I am on it, should have a revised season plan for you by Monday. Enjoy your weekend!
  • Great!!!  Thanks.  Just finished the last of the testing this AM.
  • @mark Thoma - Just posted some notes for you in your Official Coach Thread...so let's close this thread up here and only talk over there!
