I've done a couple races now on the London course, one 1 lap race and one 5 lap race. In both instances, the countdown timer counts down to the start and everyone takes off hard. Then I look up on the screen and see it says "warm up" and the race doesn't seem to actually start until after the first lap even though everyone is going hard and it feels like we are racing. What's up with that?
Yes its mash the gas when the gate goes down. I hate that too. I think the description of those races in zwift events calendar actually says race from the start despite "warm up" sign. Is it so you can get from the race corral to the actual loop of the race on the course to start the four laps?
@Tom Box the “warm up” is the section from the start to the actual race loop. I see it with the London Classique course and the like. While it may say warm up, it is definitely part of the race. The good news on that setup is that if you work to stay with the group up the short 5% section, it will typically calm a bit and everyone starts to work together more.
