Coach Notes

Thank you for creating a trial exploring the team! I think we can do a great job helping you not only get ready for your half marathon but then transition that into tri specific fitness early next year. That works great either into your short course race in July, or if you want to bump up to a half with your husband in May. Both would work fine for you, and you'll have the fitness by the time we are done with you!:-)

Since we're choosing the balanced plan for your half marathon, this already assumes that you will be doing some cycling. When you and I talk on the phone we can structure the workouts around what you're doing entry road. I am a huge fan of having you continue to cycle while doing your run training; it makes you so much fitter and healthier!!!

Also I encourage you to join our fall running group text line, I've There's lots of good energy over there and it's a fast way for you to meet other people on the team. It's an app called GroupME, here's the invite to the group: https://groupme.com/join_group/34349815/2Tbioa

  • My husband signed me up for EN because he thinks I need a coach to "unlock my potential" or something along those lines. I think it would be beneficial too, I just hemmed and hawed around and never signed up. Next season, id like to get under a 2:30 for the Olympic. My last was 2:43. My swim is pretty bad so I could certainly improve there.  We have four kids, the oldest is 8, and this season was my first time to do something apart from being pregnant or breastfeeding, basically. We are done having kids and when adam (my husband) signed up to do a HIM, I hopped on board too (with sprints & olympics). It's fun to have a shared hobby, good for our marriage and I really enjoy doing it, even racing.
  • @Camille Jennings - There certainly is a value to having a consistent program that is designed around the incremental work required to make you fatter. Sometimes when left to my own devices we trend toward to schedule that fits our life but doesn’t technically walk the path of making us faster.

It does sound like your life is pretty crazy right now, but you and I can work together to create a schedule that fits as best as possible.

I met my future wife doing triathlons, and we have shared an endurance passion ever since. It’s one of the great counterpoints of our relationship.  Exercise is a core value in our family to share with the kids is also really powerful.  Especially since I seem to miss all the other stuff up!  :p

When we connect on the phone we can begin to talk about what a manageable week is for you and help establish some goals around your year. My top priority is creating a training program that is challenging yet achievable.

    Great to have you here!
