Matthew Montague Official Coach Thread

@Matthew Montague - Great to have you create a trial and explore the Team. We usually "leap" into a training plan, but given your background (pasted below) I thought we should be a bit more mindful.

Background: After 4 a complete break since ironman cairns and a DNF to boot. I would like to be able to ease back to some very light training. I suffered a lower back injury however have done some mobility and strengthening exercises. Physio is happy with the re activation of my glutes.

Early Actions (First Six Weeks):
  • Continue the good work of your physio to make sure the lower back is okay...this means daily exercises.
  • I'd like to have you get to a point where you have a daily strength session (from physio) and a daily workout (30 to 60 minutes, depending on the sport).
  • Transition to basic exercise for the next six weeks that is sustainable.
  • Question For You -- Can you cycle (road), swim and/or run? Let me know!  If you have a Strava account I can follow and see your activities, even better!

Proper Training Actions (December 1 +):
  • Since you are entering your season / summer now, I think picking a few races as goals for the mid- late season window is appropriate...these can be motivational to help you stay on track.
  • Ideally we have you on a beginner "Short Course" plan starting Monday December 4th to prepare you for your races.
  • We can modify ^this^ plan as needed to keep you happy, but it's a good baseline!
Looking forward to hearing from you!
