Tell me what I want to hear (not what I know is best ;) ) Un relenting Heel pain

So first off, I'm medical so I know better than to diagnose myself...but... Right now no chance to get time off to see PCP -referral to Ortho etc....
So I dont recall any trauma but initially just nagging Heel and Achilles pain with some calf referral..... Changed which boots (Army) and added heel gel pad -helped...cut back running..some.. all before IM SR in July. the race hurt but the legs and other bits masked the heel pain and I did "OK". 1 month post no running.... Eased back and it still there. ache mild but weird random severe sharp pains deep in heel bone. I don't relay have the Calf/Achilles pain Except for first mile or so -slow to warm up....heel even gets a little better... I've skipped all brick Runs, and not mid week speed work....only running about 1x week....but I do, typical can almost do no walking day 1 after.  Have run 2 Sprint races and still did OK...but my last 12 mile run (not the planned 16) ached the whole way and I punched out early and gimped for 2 days.  Feels almost normal after 4-5 days.....
No swelling/bruising or pain at tendon. No plantar pain. Just mild tenderness body of heel bone with exquisite pain just below (not at) Achilles insertion.
This is now almost 8 months going.  And I have IMAZ in NOV!  I've broke something like 20 bones from ribs to arms etc. The last foot injury was a fracture of the midfoot (other foot) that I treated with switching to Hookas and changing the lases of my boot... (I was training for Vineman Full.) Have fresh Hookas which help ...some....

So... all you psycic Drs......  Calcanial Stress FX?  TX: 6-8 weeks non-weight barring? = Realy??!!
This kinda sucks

  • Family doc here currently working through plantar fasciitis that had an atypical early presentation and also with some Achilles tendinitis. If you’re not going to go to a doc/PT, then treat like PF.  Stop what hurts flor at least 8 weeks. Stretch your calves like crazy- I have a 4 inch block at my standing desk and stretch all day when I’m at my desk. I devote the first 20 minutes of WKO to foam roll ITB (it’s all connected and mine were horrible, though painless), foam roll back, stretch all lower leg muscles and foam roll calf.  At night, I do ROM on my big toes, trying to get them to flex as far as possible (apparently my bunions limit my toe flexion which makes me trip over my feet and fall a lot). Then I use a knuckle or a spoon to Graston my foot. Then I sleep in a night splint I got off Amazon. I have new OTC arch supports in all my shoes. Research says arch supports equivalent to custom orthotics for PF   All that’s plus 4 sessions of dry needling and about a month in, my excruciating pain is almost completely gone.  But it took podiatry and PT to get me there. I also have a slight lumbar scoliosis which causes a functional leg length discrepancy. A tiny heel lift in one boot (also military) completely cured my 25 h/o back pain. Ive committed to zero running for ten full weeks to ensure that sucker heals. So living on bike and elliptical for now.   Oh yeah- X-ray showed mild Achilles tendinitis at insertion-  explains the long term off and on pain I’d get.
Sooooo... you could try all that stuff I just said, or go to PT and ortho or podiatry.
    Good luck!
