What are the long weeks and Race rehearsals for the IM 20 Week Program

I will be following the IM 20 week program for AZ 2010 which starts in a couple of weeks.  I would like to know which weeks are the longest and which weeks are the Race Rehearsal Bike rides.  I would like to just mark these weeks so I can make sure I am home, as I travel for work,  and that my wife doesn't plan something for us to do those Saturdays.  Thanks!!

  • Dan, go to the Season Planning Tools and in the spreadsheet there is a tab that lays out the long bike and long run lengths by week and the RR locations.

  • Rich, When I come off IMCDA, I want a couple of weeks very easy, then OS until end of August, then repeat the 12 Wk program for IMAZ. Can I do that or am I supposed to join the 20 wk program at WK 9? r/Paul
  • Paul,

that sounds like a good plan but recommend you use da tools to lay that out in the spreadsheet and then us take a look at it the macro thread if you need another set of eyes.
  • Paul - I was under the impression that the last 12 of the 20wk plan is basically the same as the 12wk plan anyways...so, I would say go to the 12. Also, I have seen Rich write elsewhere that the 20 week solution is really for those outside the Haus who don't have the benefit of 'plan-jumping'. RnP have instructed me to stay in OS as much as possible with entrance into the 12wk IM plan at 12 weeks out...with a preference of staying in OS up to the 10 or even 8 wk mark since there is now a long bike option in the OS plans.

I would recommend the same for you...stay in OS as long as you can, utilizing the long bike option and even adding a little (maybe 15-30 min) of z1 run time to the longer run and then jump to the 12 wk IM plan at 8-10 weeks out - especially since you are coming off of an IM and the base fitness will be there already.

  • Good advice from Stephen
