Amber Callahan Official Coach Thread

Here's your personal Coach Thread, as promised. This is where you'll return to post all your "coach" questions as responses; I'll see them and reply. This first post is here to guide you through your first year on EN, so you can always come back here.

As you'll see in this forum, I handle all manner of edits and changes.  So post away, know that I reply here usually M/W/F each week.

Power User Tip: Click the Star icon by the Title of this thread to subscribe, and you'll get email updates when I do reply.

Your Notes - Beginner

I just finished my first IM 70.3 (North Carolina) and would like to complete the IMTX at the end of April. I had a slow 70.3 (7 hours, 47 min) so I know I have my work cutout for me to increase speed to finish in time for the full in April. I think the most opportunity to help with overall time is in the bike, I have not been training with power, but would like to. I'd also like to know/learn more about nutrition and make sure I'm doing it all right :)

Your Homework for Our Call

Training with Power Focus:  I can walk you through what power can do for you; have you ever used power even in an indoor setting? Are you a gear head / detail oriented?  What's your budget or what PM are you considering? Also, what type of bike do you have?

Nutrition Focus: You'll have to let me know if this is an exercise nutrition thing OR a daily nutrition thing. Most beginners need help setting up a baseline plan, and we have a lot of resources for that. Before I dive in, let me know if you have any specific nutritional / fueling concerns or things you've tried that don't work.

Looking forward to working with you this year,

~ Coach P
