Does anyone else have a problem with their Cycleops Hammer Trainer not calculating speed or mileage?

Recently purchased a Hammer and my first ride with Training Roads as my App resulted in no mileage or average speed during the ride on my 902 .  I have a Garmin Vector power meter and use the Garmin 902/Garmin App to keep track of my activities. Previously, I used Training Roads with rollers and had no problem with getting speed, mileage, PWR, cadence etc with Garmin 902/Garmin App.

  • I'm guessing that you may have set the wheel size on your garmin manually.
  • Yes. I set wheel size on garmin.
  • Are you using bluetooth to record on the trainerroad app?  I believe it will only record the power from the cycleops hammer over bluetooth.  You may need to use Ant+ if you want speed, cadence etc as well as power.
  • as a follow up: over bluetooth the Rouvy app gets power and cadence from the hammer.   I believe if you are using the vectors you can extract just the cadence info from them (at least that's how Zwift works with the Hammer and P1 pedals- power from the hammer,  cadence from the pedals).
  • I use my Hammer with Rouvy and the data is always in the Activity dashboard whether I did the ride using my cell phone or my laptop.
  • if you've got power data (which is absolute), why do you care about an artificial distance / speed number?
  • I agree.  Ultimately speed and mileage indoors is window dressing.  But for the cost of the recent Cycleops Hammer I was just trying to find an appropriate app to squeeze all of the data out of it that I could.  Just my type-A way.  In any case, for those who use the recently updated Hammer and Trainer Roads for EN workouts, the Trainer Roads workouts go directly to Garmin App if you link the two and the recent Hammer displays every number and data stream a Type A desires.  I also spoke to the Cycleops IT and you need to take the batteries out of Vector Power Meters if on indoor bike to keep the Hammer from misinterpreting data.  Thanks everyone for input.
