Rob Sabo's 2018 Official Coach Thread
You are doing 70.3s in 2018 as a chance to build the bike up (love). Here's what I am thinking for you:
1. First survive this November and your running. Set some objective "recovery" metrics now, before you compete, so you can't talk yourself out of them later.
2. Commit to a season that has breaks built in. You can run and run consistently, but we need a down week somewhere every 4 / 5 / 6 weeks...could be a swim focus vs a bike focus, but something to offload that TSS is important for you.
3. Go bike focus in the OS so we can get that started...I think the OS edits make this perfect for you. Outside of the OS, based off of your races (can you submit them via My Season above if you haven't already?) we can work in some bike time. I really want to spend some dedicated time challenging you in the 2 to 3-hour power range. 5 hour power comes when we connect the 1 hour power to 3 hours...it all trickles down from there.
FYI, I have put the Paul Curtin info into the November Watch Discuss Learn Forum...you can find it here.
Good luck with your races!

I filled out the season planner. I started Nov OS but will probably restart Jan OS. Run streaking ~5days of 4miles and 2 x 1 hour runs ~8+ miles for about 36/week. I am doing body weight and bands for legs, cords and light weight for shoulders, and core 2-3 x per week. Right now doing 1xFTP, 1xVO2 and Sunday zwift ABP. Might add Saturday zwift if I have time but I am also trying to figure out how to add a zwift race or "the crusher". I guess those would substitute for VO2 or FTP if the race is longer.
I like Paul's idea of picking a week every 4-5 that's a do what you feel like doing week. I will look at my calendar.
I might add a half in March Aprilish Fla or San Juan but as a C race.
June Bend camp and maybe some sprints locally.
Your ability to focus and train is your super power, but as we saw this year it can be your undoing as well. Those intermittent breaks will be great for you...a down week isn’t a step backwards, it’s a pause before a continued build.
Ill check out your season plan this week...
