Somebody posted this on ST a few days ago. Consensus was that for this race, bikes were dropped off at transition the night before the race, and the owner did this to help prevent a quick theft overnight.

I think it was a practical joker at work here. I had a "friend" who went back to the transition are after we had left to go to the swim start, ostensibly to grab a gel. Instead, he put my bike in the big ring and the 11t cog in the back. I never did like that guy.

I can't believe anyone could be that oblivious, so I vote for staged photo, or sabotage by a competitor, or even a "practical joker".
