John Griffin Official Coach Thread

Here's your updated Season Plan, as promised. This is where you'll return to post all your "coach" questions as responses; I'll see them and reply. This first post is my best outline of how to proceed with your races, but you can ask any / all questions you want. So post away, know that I reply here usually M/W/F each week.

Power User Tip: Click the Star icon by the Title of this thread to subscribe, and you'll get email updates when I do reply.

Your Notes

I complete a HIM in April but due to a knee injury in June have been basically out of action. Had surgery on left knee to treat a partially torn quad tendon and cartilage damage. I'm about 95% ready to go.

Coach Notes

Great to hear you are close to 95%...that's no small feat!!! But we still have to be careful. I trust you have and will continue to be mindful of your knee. The goal here with an Run Durability Program start is to get you running frequent, SHORT distances to build up (I don't know your current weekly mileage). You can then layer in the bike around that. By the time you hit the OutSeason Plan you should be in a good enough space to really start training.

Let me know what you think and if you need any help doing modifications!!

Let's get to work!

  • @john griffin - Thanks for the note on your CC...I have fixed that for you and have updated your Roadmap above into Wisconsin. Basically I'd like to "reboot" the OutSeason Plan into the Six Week Bike Focus plan before you hit the final 12 weeks of Race Prep into Wisco.

If you have made changes to your training to facilitate recovery, etc., please let me know so I can make them!!
