Setting up Powermeter and Testing

Is there a video by chance on how to setup your screen for the correct display information and testing for a Garmin Edge 1000 and Garmin Vector 2S pedals powermeter? I tested Tuesday but I think I did it wrong. I made the mistake of not resetting the timer for the 5 and 20 min test portion. I've got my overall numbers but it doesn't sound right. I may try again on Thursday to get an accurate test.

  • are you testing indoors or outdoors? if indoors, dumb or smart trainer? using any apps?

if you could post a link to your garmin data, that'd help.
  • You may already have access to a web- or PC- based analytic program into which you can load your file, and select intervals to analyze. Eg, TrainingPeaks Premium or WKO+.

If not, there are some free software programs which allow you to (a) upload a file from your 1000 and (b) select intervals, specifically those 5 & 20 minute segments you want, so you can see what your power was for those intervals alone.

One option: assuming you upload your files to the non-premium versions of Garmin Connect, TrainingPeaks, or Strava, you can export/download the file from there as either a.fit or .tcx file. Then, you can get a program such as PowerTap's PowerAgent, and *Import* the file. Then, just select the specific interval you want to analyze, and you're good to go.
