Ok Patrick, questions on which plan to load up

I have a half marathon on 01/21/18.  and another on 02/18/18.  Full ironman is on May 27th (Brazil)  Which plan should I load after my post half ironman session?  I really want to do a blended thing during the next couple months or so...  (No half marathon blended plans.. just full marathon blended plans)

  •  Do you have any interest in doing the outs eating plan for a couple weeks? I like the idea of taking away some of the long duration work and replacing it with a bit of intensity on the bike while maintaining your run consistency. You could probably do eight weeks of that for January and February before transitioning to the actual Iron Man plan.

If you don’t want to do the out season, we can always put you in a straight line and plan but not sure why you would train using a marathon plan for a half marathon event? Please let me know!
  • half marathon plan... but none are blended... so I can just add in Monday Wednesday indoor cycling workouts..

not doing full marathon....  was just looking for half marathon plan that had the bike and swim in it....   I swim at noon anyway whenever I'm not working...
  • I'll check out the outseason eating plan.  I do like to eat :)
  • Hahahahahaha. That is the most ridiculous thing ever. I thought for sure I had a balanced half marathon plan, are you sure we don’t? I’m pretty sure I’ve been telling people about it for like a year. Let me know.

Otherwise I can help you adjust as needed or simply make one.
  • I'll go back and check... but didn't see one....  however, I like the half marathon plan I saw...  I can use that...

I usually do an indoor cycle thing twice a week and an outdoor swim thing at least twice a week...  so I can throw those in...

after the half marathons in January and February I should touch base again....  in the meantime I'll just go back to my eating :D

One of the folks I swim with said she trained with you in the past...  Kim Strassman-Eagle?  she said to say hello...

  • I just found the new outseason thread!  I'm a dummy! or I've been working too much!
What do you think about the swim get fast outseason?  I'm out of November and December for outseason....

I'm doing the holiday run challenge right now.  Let me know which outseason thing you think I should do... I'm leaning towards the swim stuff... I like the get fast one!

  •  Yes, Kim is a good friend. I am glad you found the new training plan information, as they are really good.

I am 100 percent OK with you doing the swim stuff and then season, that’s fine. For now, enjoy the run challenge and stay fit with low pressure. There will be plenty of time to work really hard in 2018!

ok.  doing the outseason swim fast and run challenge... and the outs eating :)  Patrick, have a marvelous Christmas!  I'm hoping the run challenge keeps the pounds from going up here from the outs eating
  • Hiya!  trying not to start another thread .... as requested.  3M was really fun 1/2 marathon.  I came in second.  The winner was a USATF masters champion (Edie Stevenson from Boulder) who at the age of 68 ran it at 7:15 per mile!  amazing!  so of the normal people out there .... I came in first   So I'm chilling this week.  You can see my race in Strava.  It was very humid and hot so even though it was supposed to rain I ended up pouring cold water on my head at most water stops!  I was aiming for 8:45 and accomplished 8:49 with a negative split.  (Happy!).

Question:  How do I set up my race season?  I must have messed up on the submission of such....

my next "race" is Austin 1/2 marathon February 18.  Race after that is Brazil IM in May and then South Africa 70.3 championship.

Cheers!  btw, that run challenge over the holidays really got me in shape for the race this past Sunday!

I think I figured this out... saw my race season on the new database
  • @Patricia Rosen - always good to be humbled every now and then. Now you know how everyone in you AG feels when you race!!!  :p

i did map out your year for you here in the forums. If you can’t find it, lemmeno...I can do a search etc.

ps that’s a great race BTW. Let’s see what you can do in Feb...I say aim for that negative split and let’s nail it this time.

Pps - run Durability is the bomb.com. So glad it worked out for you!
