Kristin Kandiel Official Coach Thread

Here's your updated Season Plan, as promised. This is where you'll return to post all your "coach" questions as responses; I'll see them and reply. This first post is my best outline of how to proceed with your races, but you can ask any / all questions you want. So post away, know that I reply here usually M/W/F each week.

Your Notes

I did Lake Placid full and half this year and then I took some time off. I did some running and I just started to spin on Monday nights. I am currently in week 6/6 of a 42 day FIT and STRENGTH challenge. I started at 155 lbs and I'm down to 143 lbs.

I'm changing my focus back to short course. In 2012, 2013 and 2015 I was on TEAM USA for short course and then I made the transition over to long course (IM Lake placid in 2015 and 2017). I've always used a 1 on 1 personal coach for short course but I'd like to try using EN. My goal is to qualify for Nationals which is usually in August. Fingers crossed I can find my speed again.

  • HELP! HELP!
So out-season really didn't happen for me. :( My life has been so crazy with work that I really only got in 2 workouts a week.  This was the first time ever that I just decided to put training on hold. I just finished my first full week  of training (simple swim/bike/run/core). With that my race schedule and expectations for myself has also change.  I'm still going to stick with short course but my goal isn't to quality for short course nationals anymore. As of right now I'm only scheduled for 2 races the two in BOLD below (7/14 Delta sprint and 9/1 Lake George Olympic). With my delayed start date/training I'm not sure what plans I should load up.  For this week (starting 4/9) I loaded up the 20 week intermediate short course plan to end on 9/2. I'm hoping to get back on track!!!!! Let me know what I should do!
Thanks Coach and sorry for the plan change!
P.S Jeff Cornick is killing his workouts!!!!!!!!

  • @Kristin Kandiel - Wow that sucks but life got in the way, I’m glad to hear you are back on track. Sometimes, stepping away from the training is the best decision possible. In a weird way I hope this pays off for you!

I like you on the short course plan into your first race. Then I would like you to switch into the bike focus plan for the last three weeks. This means on Jullundur , you would be loading the INT bike focus Plan to end on 8/5.

Then you can reload the short course plan to end on your next event which should have you also. Just enough variety in volume to make it right.

I am in awe of what jeff has been able to accomplish. Super excited to be working with him!
