How do I see run dynamics data from my Stryd?

I just got a Stryd for Christmas and I‘m trying to figure out how to view my data. I downloaded the Stryd IQ Garmin app and use that to run. While running I see ground contact time, power, form power, etc; however, I do not see that data in my run on my  Garmin Connect app. I do not see it on my Stryd app nor on PowerCenter

  • I followed these instructions to set up my Garmin Fenix3 with Stryd. Click on Run With Stryd, then Garmin Watch...

  • I followed the instructions and I still do not see ground contact time in the Garmin app when I review my run. I also do not see that value in stryd PowerCenter. I do see my power data there.

@Chris Oubre Trus, ground contact time does not appear in the Garmin APP. But it does appear in the stats in the Garmin Connect web site. A few notes:
    • I am using Final Surge for running power analysis on the rec of Coach P, and have found it to be better than any other I've used: TrainingPeaks, WKO4, Stryd, Strava, Garmin. Again, the web site, not the app. It's free (for now). Final Surge is a very good triathlon calendar and individual workout analysis option, esp for running with power, IMO.
    • I find Ground Contact Time to be a non-significant metric, as it tracks precisely with pace - the faster I go, the less time my feet spend on the ground, pretty linear correlation
    • I DO find another metric, which is available using the Garmin HR strap, L/R ground contact %, to be interesting. Mainly because it confirms what I have other data for, that my right leg is probably weaker than my left. Correlates with my L/R pedal balance (L>R), and my own subjective impression that my right thigh is slightly smaller and weaker than my left. Now I just need to figure out what to do about that.

  • You can only see those metrics in the Stryd Power center.  go to Analyze.  There is a graph down the page.  In the top right of the graph are three lines.  Click on that and that gives you options for other metrics to add to the graph which includes ground contact and others.
  • @Chris Oubre just checking that you are looking at your computer Stryd Power center not the Stryd App on your phone
  • Yep. Though their web interface leaves much to be desired. Thanks for all the help.
  • I also received a Stryd for Christmas @Chris Oubreand have had the same issue.

Unfortunately Garmin don’t support Stryd data at the moment which is why you cant see your Stryd data in Garmin Connect.

However, if you have a Training Peaks account you can link Stryd to your Training Peaks account and it will display your Stryd info on there or if you use Google Chrome there is a chrome extension called Stravatix which you can download. This shows loads of additional data in your Strava account for free (only on desktops; not the strava app):  https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/stravistix-for-strava/dhiaggccakkgdfcadnklkbljcgicpckn?hl=en

    hope that helps a little
  • @Chris Oubre or @Robert Sabo or anyone else.

I'm using Stryd with my Garmin 920XT. Have you noticed the charge does not last as long? My concern is using it during  IM the charge won't last thru the bike and run. I don't use it for the swim.

    Thanks for the feedback.

  • I have not had any problems with charge but I shut it off during bike and use separate bike only computer.

    Sent from my iPhone
  • I think there must have been a recent Garmin update because now on my Connect "review" screen (on my phone) on my runs, I see data from my HRM-run Garmin HR strap (run metrics), as well as 4-5 new fields labeled IQ fields associated with my Stryd including power, spring stiffness, etc.  Pretty sweet.
  • So I just looked at some of those run dynamics on Garmin mobile and noticed most of my runs have a Ground Contact Balance with 52.7% left. Is that something I should worry about and try to fix or is that a minimal assymetry?  The left hamstring is my chronically injured side.
  • @Robert Sabo I see the data on my Garmin mobile and Stryd website for ground contact time. Where are you seeing % of left and right? I am working on my gait that has imbalances. My shoe wear pattern confirms it.

Yes, doc, I would pay attention to that. I just reviewed my data from the past two months (not that much of it d/t a lot of ski time instead of running.) My GCT is pretty consistent 49.x L/50.x R (usually something like 49.8/50.2. But on Mar 5, I over did it skiing, with my R knee swelling up enough to schedule an appt with a Sports MD. When I tried running again a week later, only 2 miles on a flat cinder track, my knee was still wonky, and my L/R GCT was 53/47. My conclusion is this metric is pretty consistent and accurate. There may be something out of whack with your stride, who knows where (arms? Core? Hips? whatever...). Or, maybe one side is stronger than the other. You are basically a pretty fast runner, but you might have an issue with being able to sustain that over the long haul of an IM marathon, right? Fixing some muscular imbalances or stride error might find you some free speed?

Having said that, there is the data from my P1 pedals, which shows my L/R power #s consistently @ 53%/47%. I suspect that;s because my left leg is working harder than it should due to some irregularity in power distribution around the pedal cycle. But I can't seem to fix it.
