Profile aero bottle: you want this (and they’re an EN Sponsor!)

Reported “massive (aerodynamic) savings” from this water bottle.   This, used with the profile aeria stem, turns a regular bike into a superbike (and presumably a superbike into something even faster).   And they have an EN discount!   (See end of post).

Now ... I know I’m being hypocritical by shilling this piece of gear here, and evangelizing about useless consumption in a different post,  but I think this is one of those big gain items up there with fast tires and latex tubes, or sleeved race suits.    I’m personally going to ridiculous lengths of reconfiguring my entire front end in order to run this.

(and if someone want to order an extra and ship it to me the next time I’m in the US, please send me a message ... cuz Profile won’t ship to Canada).

  • I have tried at least 3 different on the fly systems up front and just dont like them... Maybe I could modify that to hold a BTA and food and just use it for a fairing!
  • You're basically creating a small fairing, and making it look more like the Scott Plasma front-end (although not as tall).

Personally, not a fan of that look, but hey, if watts are watts...what the heck!!!

@ both: bingo.   Once you put this bottle contraption on, it’s a fairing ... but creates a looooonnnng airfoil that comprises the bottle *and* headtube/gusset.    Take a look at how @Rob Mohr runs his Torhans bottle in his Cozumel race report ... same idea.
  • Please somebody let me know if you get one of these to work on a standard Cervelo P5 cockpit...
  • @John Withrow ... from the profile design fb page.

  • 50% of the time I buy a new BTA device I end up putting it in the closet because I can't fit it on my bike or it is suboptimal in some way.  I will probably risk it and try one more.
  • How long is the PD code good for?  I'm not interested in the Aeria hydration but I'm probably going to upgrade my front end with a new carbon PD set up.
  • @Dave Tallo - I've seen that bike in a closer pic, it's not a standard P5 set up. He's using the P5 base bars, with individual blocks holding up each arm pad & aerobar, it's not utilizing the standard "high V" mount or low mount the bike comes with. If you don't use the Hi Vee, it should work. I DO use the High V, so it's out for me. not even sure the pic below has the standard P5 base bar

  • As Robert Sabo says...me with aero bottles as well.
