  • That would be a dream come true to get one of those slots!!
  • You don’t have to sign up for a WTC event to enter the drawing. Can send in postcard(s) too. I’m entered by signinhg up for IM Choo. Kinda hope I don’t get picked, because turning it down will be difficult.
  • @Mike Roberts  "Eligible 2018 Races that Occur Near Kona’s Race Date

If you are a Selected Athlete, but any of your Eligible 2018 Races is IRONMAN Italy, IRONMAN Maryland, IRONMAN Chattanooga, IRONMAN Barcelona, IRONMAN Taiwan, IRONMAN Louisville, or IRONMAN Florida, then you will be permitted to defer (at no charge) your race entry for such Eligible 2018 Race to instead apply to the same race in 2019."

Too late to send in two more postcards!

@Al Truscott - too bad I don't have a late season IM planned!  I imagine the odds are very low, but regardless of whether I won this lottery or KQ'd at IM Norway I would have to decline due to schedule conflicts.  I'm banking on the legacy route in 2020 when I can do the race right (i.e., be there long enough to participate in most stuff).

Meanwhile, I'm more convinced than ever that I made the right call to put Norway on the top of the list because I don't think it will last.  The race is 1 July and they are still on Tier 1 pricing (first 1000 athletes).  This IM will have the smallest field I've ever raced in.
