JanOS 2018 Run Thread – Week 2 – It’s All About TRP

  • Finally recovered from food poisoning this week.  Got to run for an hour outside. Nothing special but I’ll take it given how bad I felt a few days ago!
  • Just wanted to say hi all! Looks like everyone has been kicking some butt. Took a little bit of hiatus in December due to some cold/flu/bronchitis.

I’ve been following~ish the OS WO’s and am making some strides with my consistency. I’m running close to everyday (20/week) and adding a little speed when the building OS fatigue allows. I should be back at it hard within a week or two.

Week 2 was an opportunity to test my JOS hack. Best news is that I was able to run 2mi @ TRP yesterday and today without pain or negative consequences. I bumped up my swimming to make up for the reduced run time, even including a solid 3K straight swim. Five bike rides, including 30 and 40 min interval sessions, and the Zwift Fondo this morning including 2 x 20’ @ 210w (IF .95). Week 3 Plan: Level 3 Bike as written and Level 1 Run as 4 x 2mi Runs, with 150min swimming. Hoping to hold the swimming at that level while slooowly increasing my running to previous RDP consistent 15mi/week by the end of OS.
  • It's only the end of Week 2 and I am already moving my running to the pool. Not sure what I did but boy is it painful. It hurt last Sunday and became increasingly more painful. I rode Tuesday and that really seemed to help. The more I rode, the better it was. It was a bit tender so I moved my Wednesday run to after work. Only got 4 miles in and my leg/knee was throbbing. I can barely put weight on it. I did a pool run Friday and yesterday and am going back to the pool later for today's "run." Appointment with Ortho is set for tomorrow. Hope it's not too serious. ..feeling frustrated :'(

  • Well, I had planned a bike workout today, but the Sun was shining again. I took a walk with my wife and then thought February is generally a very dark month here. So, the bike ride was out and the run was in. I did the same loop as yesterday and just tried to run steady. Kudos to @Alicia Chase  for the inspiration to run outside. Take these days when you can.

Decent run outdoors today.  Started off slow and sluggish, loosened up after 2 miles or so.  Great break from the treadmill

@Edwin Croucher You’re welcome  :) It’s amazing how we alter our perception of “a nice day to run” as winter progresses.
  • Ok, not gonna lie... ouch!!!!   My run day was meh and flat.  The legs did not want to move and never loosened up.   I had a feeling this was gonna happen so I decided to run to a new place and then subway home after.

I could tell I was not doing well on the run cause my stride was off and my feet were dragging a little later on the run.

  • Long run today. 13.4 never really felt great, just ok. Weather was decent.  A little more than 30 for the week. Feeling good overall. Need to keep working.
  • Got out into what passes for snow in southeast England to get in TRP run + some Z3.

Completed 4 runs for 16 miles on the week.

  • Closed out the week with a nice brick run Sunday morning before the storms hit: https://www.strava.com/activities/1368628009

    Little slow this morning......  :)

    Have a great week all!
