Pirate Leg

Hey - I've been awol for awhile. Just becoming social after ankle surgery last week and I'm going to be in a cast for ≈6 weeks. I couldn't bear the thought of crutches or a rollabout... so I found this contraption called iWalk 2.0 (aka my pirate leg). It's awesome if you need it... I get around and can carry things etc. I bought it on Amazon for $150.

  • Rich what was the ankle surgery for?  I hope I never have to borrow your pirate leg.
  • Hi Tim - I had an accident in 1985 and both ankles were broken. The right one pretty badly. They couldn't do the needed surgery at the time because of swelling and tissue damage and elected to treat it with a cast. Fast forward to the last few years and the internal damage that hadn't been fixed was allowing my peroneal tendons to roll out over my ankle bone and they were shredding and wearing out. Had to have the all repaired before they snapped. We had been watching for the last few years and this was the time to get it fixed.

I hope you don't have to borrow the pirate leg either... but I think it is amazing that I don't need crutches and I get to say ARGH all I want!  ;-)
