Bike Porn from UK70.3

Some bike porn from last Sundays 70.3 - wasn't being geeky, the Pro's were racked next to me, honest!

Fraser Cartmell's Trek with Bonty aerobottle in neoprene cover, looks lower above the bars than the Profile bottle? Fraser won the event, ran down a 3min lead that Graves took on the bike leg!

Faris Al Sultan's Storck piece of bling! Anyone got a spare $15,000??  Cool Xentis bars with electronic shufting, low saddle to bar drop and unbelievably he had a 54/42 from chain-ring set-up - had he driven the course!! Looked like a 25t biggest sprocket however, wimp!

Stood in line for food with Stephen Bayliss who said that Faris didn't mash the bike and try and go with Graves -as the chainrings would've suggested or perhaps he was just using his SRM to best effect!

Took this shot as it clearly shows where Cartmell keeps his battery pack for the electric motor!   Looked like a storage box but clearly an aero fairing, looked removable so perhaps Trek expect it to be banned soon.

Interestingly, despite the big climbs & relatively technical (narrow & twisty) course, all the top Pro's ran a rear disc. Was a course for good bike legs, IOW, big bike power, high pwr/weight being crucial due to the climbs and still have the legs to run a hilly course.

  • WOW- that's some funky looking bikes! Thanks for sharing the bling!
  • I've got the Bontrager handlebar bottle sans neoprene cover like above and so far I looooooooove it. It is a massive improvement over the Profile bottle. The velcro strap attachments are better than the plastic bracket or rubber bands that Profile provides. The best of all is the reservoir opening at the top with a self-sealing opening. It can still splash a bit, but it doesn't fly out like the yellow kitchen sponge thing or push into the reservoir like the black disc on the other style of Profile bottle.
  • Cool aerobars! Thanks for sharing---love looking at bike bling!
