To Strava Premium OR not to Strava Premium

Hey All- I have just starting using Stava (for real this time, I've had an account forever with 0 activities) and I see the "upgrade to Premium" banner all over the place.  I am using this purely to be social and to connect with others in my area (Netherlands and all of Europe) and to learn more routes in my area.  I have a TrainingPeaks premium account for all the nitty gritty data stuff, so that is covered.

So-  Who has a premium Strava account?  Are the added functions worth the money for social use? I'm looking for the good, bad, anf ugly if anyone can share their experiences.

  • I have the Strava premium account. It's the only subscription tracking account I have. I use Training Peaks' computer-based WKO+ program along with Power Tap's PowerAgent (also computer-based, and free) for primary use, with the free web-based services of Final Surge, Garmin Connect, and Stryd as supplements.

I initially signed up for Strava premium on a short-term basis, to see the age-based KOMs and go after a few of them. I found the Power Curve and Fitness&Freshness features mildly interesting, but inferior to TP/WKO, as they don't include swimming. I really haven't explored the other Premium features. But since it was only $7/month and my only training subscription, I've kept paying.

I do value the free features and social connectivity of Strava; it's worth the 2-3 minutes a day I cruise through my feed and look at my performance on segments and compare to previous efforts on the same course.
  • thanks @Al Truscott  I think that I will get by just fine on the free lite version.

    Cheers-
