Ed Baas - 2018 Official Coach Thread

Hi Coach Patrick,
checking in to make sure I'm doing things correctly. We did run durability in the fall and loaded beginner outseason Jan 8 for 14 weeks. Next was to load Beginner Half on 3/19 to end 6/2, which is the date for the Hawaii 70.3. Loading this with that end date starts me at week 10 for the Beginner Half (or run focused half).  Just checking that I'm doing this correctly. I'm easing into some of the workouts as they are a bigger jump from where I was at.

Things coming up:
April 22 - Glass City half marathon
Blue Ridge Camp
Epic Camp in Kona week before the 70.3

  • @Ed Baas  yes you are doing the correctly. The first week always has a little bit of friction, and usually recommend that people do the workouts for time and not worry so much about the intensity out of the gate. You can take a little while for you to turn the corner as the bridge from the winter to spring workouts. 10 weeks is plenty of time, now you just have to get to work!

    reporting on test week.
    FTP 196
    5k Run 26.29 - 8:32 pace 155HR avg. 171 HR max.

    Feeling pretty positive about these considering the past year!
