  • Joy!, my happy place, my me time, a blessing.

Something I thought I'd never do or love, but I do!  And I love!
  • Not such a struggle anymore.  Something I now look forward to.
  • ... getting better.  Way above where I was at Week 1 of the OS, but not yet at the level from last Aug/Sep.

Started adding stride work ... haven't done any speed work this OS.  Here's Monday's run in Westlake, OH; mostly easy with some strides:

And today I ran just to run.  It rained the entire time.  I didn't care.

  • ....this week not happening. Planned Monday off (swim only) & too tired to run after yesterdays ride. Resting today as well (i did swim this morning). Going to claim this as my swim camp week.
  • I guess I'm kinda hacking the run plan. I'm not feeling the z4 work...it's more mental than physical so, I'm continuing with a steady run on Wednesdays.

Tuesday's run was 5 miles at Z1 on the treadmill with 4 strides and today's run was 6.5 miles at a little faster than TRP with 4 strides. My run fitness feels to be in a very good place right now.
  • @Derrek Sanks -- good call on dropping Z4 ... IMO durability is more important for you at this point ... and that frees up available TSS points to shift over to biking.  After Majorca you can make the call when to add Z4 back into the plan
  • @Paul Curtin - Yes, when I transition to the IM plan, I'll start doing the Z4 work.
  • Week 12 was almost a complete waste. Traveling overseas, dealing with a bad cough that ended in a bacterial infection, being on the sideline taking antibiotics, and feeling guilty for not putting the workouts in. Did some swimming and could barely breath so decided to take the rest of the week off and rest until feeling better.

Looking forward to start running again next week and back on the program a week after that.
  • @Jorge Duque feel better. Cannot imagine it’s easy to swim with an infection. You’ll feel a lot better once it has a chance to work in your system.
  • @Jorge Duque Get well man, so you can get back at it. I have really been feeling the fatigue. I rested Friday because I have had the local duathlon today. 2 mile run in 13:24, windy 12 mile bike in 35:33, and 2 miles in 14:11 for 1:03 total time. Run times include the transitions, so not too bad. It was rainy, so the field was very thin. I just rode my old P2C with training wheels. Happy Easter! We are almost done!
  • @Brian Quarton [OLD] @Mary Russo thanks guys. Just tying up my shoe laces for an easy 5k. Back on track pretty soon
  • Good run this morning: super steady and mostly easy with HR in Zone 1 and low Zone 2

  • Run continues to come back! This week I made it to 14.5 miles running from last week's 11.5. Tuesday brick - 2.5 miles, Wednesday = 5 miles, Friday  = 3 miles, and today 4 miles before my guests got up. Although it has all been on my treadmill in case I had to stop if something went south, it still counts!

@Al Truscott - so, the trade-off has been a plateau in my biking. But the gains made in the run are exponential! My run time for the 5 mile this week was at the speed and HR of my two mile run three weeks ago!

  • Well, I skipped the Sunday long run and turned it into a rest day and ate-too-much Easter Dinner day. I would have felt guilty going for a 90' run while my wife was busy cooking. I earned some SAUs helping out with the cooking. :)
  • @Derrek Sanks you sir are well rested and a smart man!
  • Last week I got in a very solid 29 miles (high for me) and this week was a whole other story.  Not due to injury, but travel.  We departed for home from our little sunny spot in FL on Thursday.  I got in a couple bikes before knowing I'll be riding indoors for a while now that I'm home.  I took a short run Thursday in Savannah after 6 hours in the car, and again in Louisville on Easter evening.  I did not run at all while we were in Asheville, but I did explore the grounds and Biltmore Estate ALL DAY.  We *ahem* ate VERY well over those travel days and I am happy to say I am back home and eating well for triathlon, not just my tastebuds lol.  It was a blast and I don't regret one workout missed.  This week will be a tough week, but I'm ready!!!
