running TRP??

hi, hope this is right place for this (1st forum post).  I've been encountering following conundrum- when I run, HR often rises quickly such that TRP  ends up being impossible unless I walk... (background: recently hobbled through my first marathon, have been running pretty reasonably, 5-6 times/week -slow runner almost always 9:00-9:40/mile.  haven't done a lot of fast running 2/2 calf issues) any ideas on how to deal? just run at higher zone, run/walk?  all help appreciated!

  • Time on feet is more important than trying to run TRP.  Run/Walk works great.  I tend to just do more slow runs and I'll throw in a faster run when I'm feeling good.  The slow running won't beat you up near as much as the harder running. You will still get faster as long as you have ever some quicker paces in there
