Bike Tire Pressure
I am excited for my first full this weekend at IMLP. For most of my training and short 4 year riding career, I have been riding 105 PSI up front and 110PSI on the back. I use ZIPP Carbon Clinchers and weigh about 173 pounds.
A few weeks back, at my final bike tune up, the gentleman that built and services my bike suggested a much lower PSI. 86 PSI to be exact. He is a very trusted bike resource.
Not wanting to compromise too much, I have been riding at 92PSI the past three weeks, which I really have enjoyed.
I am not a particularly fast rider and prefer safety and no tire changing opposed to max speed/performance
Curious to know what any of you tend to race at in terms of PSI.
Many thanks and good luck to all !!!

BTW, latex tubes and Continental GP4000 tyres have more speed for the same effort compared to many other combinations.
Tires: Continental Grand Prix 4000 - 25MM
It is a TT bike.
Thanks so much Peter!
You could go as low as 80 psi on the front and 85 for the rear. You don't get more speed if the tyre is 'too' hard.

Based on the Berto method described in Bicycling June 1989 (21st century summary here:)

Remember to measure your tires with a caliper when inflated to make sure of their actual width.
When I switched to wider tires after buying a new TT bike, I went from 105/110 (F/R - both 23 mm) to 90/75 (F/R) using 25/28 mm tires (F/R). The road "feel" was so much smoother, and certainly played a part in being able to go the same speed with less effort.
i have read tons of your responses to others riders’ questions and greatly value the feedback!!
