Help! My Garmin bike computer is not staying put on my Profile Design aero bottle holder. Ideas?

Team, need some help or ideas.  I have a Garmin Edge bike computer that mounts to a Profile Design aero bottle holder (see photos) that tends to rotate and move left/right while riding, especially on bumpy roads.  It's distracting and unsafe. Wondering if anyone else has had similar problems and/or any ideas for solutions?  I'm thinking duct or electrical tape to hold in place, but hoping there is a more elegant solution available?

Thanks!

  • @Ross Randolph The Garmin holder came with a couple gaskets. Are you using them? That would solve your issues making the Garmin holder tighter to the water bottle and since its a rubber gasket it helps to keep it in place
  • I had a similar problem with my xlab bottle.  I use a rubber band behind the area that rotates backward that the garmin attaches to and loop it over the straw.  It holds the garmin from moving backwards (most of the time) with just enough tension, and can be easily taken off to get the bottle out to clean.  A friend used lock tight on the screw and struggles getting the bottle out.
  • Try some skateboard grip tap.  Mob Skateboard Grip Tape

Thanks for the advice, everyone.  So I went with a hybrid approach - combo of the gasket (thanks @Jorge Duque), electrical tape + @Trish Marshall suggestion with the rubber band and it worked perfect.  Ironically, while my bike computer stayed in place over a bumpy 56 miles without moving at all, the screwed-on cap to my Profile Design water bottle storage (in which I keep my bike tools & spare tubes) went flying off around mile 35 and I almost lost the contents -- just before I actually needed them when I flatted from a tack in the road 2 miles later.  (Many of us suspected a saboteur as there were about 10-15 bikes within a mile with the same root cause.)  Read about when I publish my race report in a few days.  :)
  • @Ross Randolph SR was crazy out there. My bib # was high and started in the back. I saw lots of crippled bikes. You looked so good on the run. Looking forward to your race report
