For the Cavu lovers out there...

I know there are a few folks that like the Hoka One One Cavu's. I'm a big fan of the Cavu's myself, but I needed something with a bit more grip for trail running. The local running store recommended the Hoka Speedgoat 2. I don't have a ton of miles on the shoes yet, but so far I'm really impressed with them. They have a Cavu-like fit and feel, but with exceptional trail grip. Just be forewarned that they are LOUD on pavement - like, the loudest trail shoe I've ever run in on pavement. I have a mile or so on-road to/from the trails, and these things sound like a pickup truck with mud tires on pavement. 😀

  • Thanks for the review John. I have been in the Mach for a couple months and really loving them. Haven't tried their trail shoes yet but was going to look at the Torrent for my next purchase.

  • @johnkatsoudas thanks for the feedback. I love my Cavus but they don't work on trails. I went down half a size on the Cavu's Did you keep the same size for the Speedgoats?

@jeffhorn - Have you tried the Torrents? They look light and less shoe than the Speedgoat. Those look serious!

  • @Sheila Leard The Speedgoats seem to fit a little smaller than the Cavu's. If they were for street running I may have still gone with the same size as the Cavu but for trail running I wanted a bit more toe clearance so I went up half a size.

  • @John Katsoudas @Jeff Horn I've been doing short off road runs in the HOKA Torrents. I like them. True to size, unlike the Cavu's that I had to go down half a size. Not too noisy on the street. Toe box is roomy. Narrow hill fit is good. Grips the dirt and they don't seem too clunky.

  • Thanks @Sheila Leard thats gonna be my next off road shoe. I just did Barkley Fall Classic in my Salming Trail 5 and they held up very well in varied conditions. A bit heavy / clunky but no permanent foot damage.
