Silca latex tubes
Silca just released new latex tubes (https://silca.cc/products/latex-inner-tube) that look interesting:
- Air loss 3-4x slower than normal Vittoria latex tubes (this is the biggest benefit to me)
- Tubes made by Vittoria so quality should be high
- Same rolling resistance as normal Vittoria
- Aluminum valves make the tubes 10 grams lighter than normal Vittoria
- At $15+shipping not much more than I've been paying for Vittoria from other sources. If you need extenders you can get a tube with a 40mm/70mm extender and fairing for $22/$24
- Tubes have a 42mm valve stem and should fit 23-28mm (labeled) tires
I've ordered a couple and will report back once I get some time on them.

Thanks Mike,
I'm sitting here relaxing, all packed up for my race on Sunday, I have a latex tube in front, and already made the call to just leave the butyl tube in my Disc that I put in there a few weeks ago when I flatted. Afterall the bike leg is only 30 miles....Grrrr gets off the couch , out to the garage, installs latex tube. Bike split will now be 30 seconds faster :-)
Those Silca tubes are worth a shot and like ya said similar price. Still drives me nuts we cant buy latex with long stems and we have to keep playing this extension game.
@Mike Westover I also saw those and ordered a couple. I'm not sure I care about the 10g weight savings, but the slower leak rate sounds nice and (most importantly) I like that they have removable valve cores and I can relocate the valve to the end of the extender on my front Zipp 808. I've had the valve rattle itself shut with a regular valve extender, and it was a royal PITA to get the valve opened again so I could pump up the tire.
Thanks @Mike Westover for always keeping us updated
Good input. Curious that they are made by vittoria but different material than Vs own tubes
2 x 10g is huge and cheaper then a lot of other weight savings.
I was chatting to few folks at Eagleman about these tubes. I love them and best part is that I fill my tires day before the race when I drop off the bike and with the slow leak rate they are perfect race morning and I never have to stress about pump, tires ect. Thought I would let everyone know and bump this thread up again!
