Fitbit resting heart rate
Does anyone else here use their Fitbit to track resting HR? Do you find it accurate?
Here's what my Fitbit (Alta HR) is showing for the last several days:
So, apparently over the last month or so my resting HR (according to Fitbit) has fluctuated from 58 down to 51 and now up to 55. I can't seem to correlate this to anything... weekly training volume, sleep quantity/quality, illness, fatigue... nothing. I know that the Fitbit algorithm uses data that it collects both while you're awake and asleep, and for the most part I wear it when sleeping (unless I'm charging it). I'm tempted to just delete this from my Fitbit Dashboard. Anyone have any insights or thoughts on the accuracy of Fitbit HR, and what might be causing this sort of variability?

How did you get that chart? Mine is accurate to within a few beats at rest, but I don’t trust it at all when active. It’s can run 20 beats high when running.
@Leslie Knight the chart is from the Mac browser version of the Fitbit dashboard. The iPhone app has a slightly different-looking version (but same data). I totally agree that Fitbit HR is not trustworthy at all when active - in fact I don't even wear my Fitbit when working out. I take it off and put on a Garmin 935 (or use an Edge 1030 when on the bike). I also agree that when sitting around the real-time resting HR seems reasonably accurate. It's the 'calculated resting HR' in the dashboard that I just can't figure out.
